Uefa Champions League 2019: Andre Onana And Ajax Of Amsterdam, One Leg Into The Final
The Cameroonian international goalkeeper, Andre Onana and his Ajax teammates pulled a big one this evening by beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0. The narrow win gives them a slide lead that could see them qualifying for this year’s final next Wednesday when the Spurs return the visit in Amsterdam. Andre’s clean sheet this evening despite the pressure from the Tottenham attackers confirms his current top form that could usher him into more football glory, everything remaining equal.
The lone goal of the night was scored by Van De Beek at the 15th minute of play. The Spurs were very poor and many of their fans were worried the score line could be worse. Fortunately for them, their goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris and defenders like Danny Rose were there to ward off any danger from the Ajax onslaught. During the second half, it was a more improved and coordinated Tottenham side. With Moussa Sissoko coming in at the midfield, Spurs created more chances but unfortunately, none of them were converted. In fact , it was the Ajax team that nearly got a second goal as David Neres hit the woodwork.
It should be noted that Tottenham Hotspur played the game without their goal poachers, Harry Kane on injury and Heung-Min Son on suspension. Statistics hold that this was the Spurs first ever UEFA Champions League Semi Finals and the first for Ajax after twenty-two years. Ajax of Amsterdam have put on an impressive run this year, ousting big names in Europe like Real Madrid of Spain and Juventus of Turin, Italy. Could Tottenham Hotspur be their next victim next week? After all, Ajax of Amsterdam has never lost a return leg match that they won the first leg in Europe. It is fair enough to therefore say that they are one leg into this year’s final of the competition.
Tomorrow night, FC Barcelona will be receiving Liverpool FC in Spain. The game promises a lot of fireworks as Lionel Messi and his teammates will try as much as possible to maintain the Reds under control. African players like Mohammed Salah of Egypt and Sadio Mane of Senegal will be defending the Liverpool colours. The game promises to be more open with plenty of goals. The 2019 Champions League has been thrilling and entertaining. Let the game start !
