Andre Onana In The Semi-Finals, Christiano Ronaldo Goes Home!
In a dramatic football encounter at the Juventus Stadium in Italy this night, Ajax of Amsterdam of Andre Onana picked up her qualification ticket for this year’s semi finals of the European top competition after beating Christiano Ronaldo and his Juventus of Turin teammates, 2-1 and 3-2 on aggregate.
Christiano Ronaldo opened scores for the home side at the 28th minute of play after benefitting from a free header inside the Ajax box, leaving Cameroonian international goalkeeper, Andre Onana completely dumbfounded and appealing for a VAR review for a possible foul before the goal. The review was made and the central referee validated the goal, giving Juventus an early lead.
Exactly six minutes after conceding, the Ajax team fought back and got rewarded with a beautiful equalizer, signed Van De Beek at the 34th minute of play. It should be remembered, Ajax eliminated Real Madrid in the 16th Finals earlier this year in Spain. Many football analysts however didn’t see them coming this night against Juventus of Turin. Ajax has taught many a football lover a great lesson tonight; never say never!
In the other fixture of the night, Lionel Messi scored a brace for FC Barcelona and Coutinho wrapped it up with the third goal to eliminate Manchester United at the Camp Nou Stadium in Spain. It was rather a dull encounter as FC Barcelona literally walked on her opponents, crushing them in the process by 3-0 , 4-0 on aggregate. Lionel Messi opened scores at the 16th minute with a brilliant left foot before scoring the second at the 20th, due to a goalkeeping monumental error from David De Gea.
Ajax of Amsterdam and FC Barcelona are therefore the first two teams to qualify for this year’s semi finals of the European Champions League. Tomorrow night, Liverpool FC and FC Porto will clash in Portugal while Manchester City will be receiving Tottenham Hotspur for return legs. Liverpool FC has a 2-0 advantage over Porto meanwhile Tottenham Hotspur has a 1-0 advantage over Manchester City.
