Memve'Ele Hydroelectric Dam Goes Operational
The population of the the South Region of Cameroon has been celebrating following the connection of the the Memve'ele power plant to the south inter-connected network.
The joy of the local population was sized up by the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, after visiting the site of the dam.
So far, 30 megawatts of the dam have been put into use while the targeted 211 megawatts expected to be churned out at completion of the project will be achieved in the long run.
The Memve'ele hydroelectric dam, which is expected to reduce the energy deficit in the country, was started in 2012 and was expected to be completed by 2017.
