Afcon, Egypt 2019: Ghana And Benin Share Spoils In Group F, Cameroon Tops Group
Two goals from the AYEW brothers, Jordan andAndre helped Ghana to stay afloat meanwhile two goals from Mickael POTE gave Benin their first point in the African Cup of Nations ever. With the two sides separating on a 2-2 tie, Cameroon now tops the Group with three points following her 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau.
Going into the game, Ghana was rated favourites to win the game and move closer to Cameroon before the Cameroon Vs Ghana encounter, scheduled for Saturday, 29th June, 2019.
Unfortunately for Ghana, Mickael POTE gave them no breathing ground as he opened scores at the 2nd minute of play for the AFCON first timers, Benin. The joy of the Benin team and supporters was cut short at the 9th minute as André AYEW scored the equalizer for Ghana.
The Black Stars of Ghana multiplied goal scoring opportunities and got a second goal at the 42nd minute through Jordan AYEW. At half time, Ghana was leading Benin by two goals to one.
Upon return from the resting rooms, Ghana suffered a major setback at the 55th minute as John BOYE was sent off with a red card after a second yellow for time wasting. This opened up space at the Ghana defense line and Mickael POTE stroke again, bringing the game to a 2-2 draw.
With this 2-2 draw between Ghana and Benin, Cameroon now tops Group F and will take on Ghana in their next encounter on Saturday, 29th June, 2019, while Benin will take on Guinea Bissau, same day. It should be noted that Asamoah Gyan never played the game.
