Uefa Champions League 2019: Liverpool Fc Wipe Away Their Tears Of Last Year
Two goals from Mohammed Salah and Divock Origi were enough to seal the victory and hand over the sixth trophy of the European Champions League to the Boys of Jüggen Klopp. Their opponents of the night, Tottenham Hotspur dominated most of the second half but unfortunately, failed to score.
The 2018/2019 season of the UEFA Champions League has finally come to an end. After failing to lift the trophy last year against Real Madrid, Liverpool FC traveled to Madrid this June 1st to take it back to England.
Just after 28 seconds, Tottenham Hotspur conceded an unfortunate penalty. Mohammed Salah stepped forward and converted it to give Liverpool FC an early lead at the second minute of play. The rest of the first half went slowly and without anything to shout out for.
The Spurs returned from the dressing room more determined to equalize. The multiplied assaults on the Liverpool defense but Van Dijk, Joel Matip and goalkeeper Allison Becker stood tall. The coming of Lucas Moura who scored a hat-trick at the semi finals for Tottenham Hotspur added fire and fury upfront but never found the back of the net.
It was some few minutes to the end of the match when the heat was really getting unbearable for Liverpool FC that second half substitute, Divouk Origi stole the show, scoring the second goal for the Reds, just as he did against FC Barcelona in the semi finals. With this sixth win in Europe, Liverpool FC and Manager, Jüggen Klopp have finally ended the title drought that has been haunting the Club for some years now.
