Ghanaian President Talks Asamoah Gyan Out Of Resignation Decision
Ghanaian international striker, Asamoah Gyan, has announced that he will be part of the Black Stars' squad that shall tussle to take home the 2019 edition of AFCON to be staged in Egypt next month.
Asamoah Gyan is renouncing his previous decision to resign permanently from the Ghanaian national team after he was convinced in a phone call chat by President Nana Addo Akufo.
On his Twitter handle, the striker announced that "a presidential request is one that cannot be disregarded.
" I have taken the request of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in good faith, and will make myself available for selection by coach Kwasi Appiah to help win the AFCON trophy."
Gyan had announced on May 20, 2019 that he would be retiring permanently from the Black Stars after information reached him that there were plans to name a new captain for the squad as the team fine-tunes preparations to take part in this year's edition of the AFCON. Displeased with the decision, Gyan had pointed out that it had never occurred in the history of Ghanaian football that a substantive captain is taking part in a competition meanwhile the captain band is won by another player.
