The Ugandan electoral commission has declared Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power for 35 years now, winner of yesterday’s presidential election, adding that the polls were fair and peaceful.
The 76-year-old emerged at the top with 58.6% of the vote while his closest rival, Bibi Wine, trailed with 34.8%.
Bobi Wine has rejected the outcome of the elections, insisting that there was widespread electoral fraud and has called on Ugandans not to accept the verdict.
